Fine art photographer
This work is about the American Dream in the 1950s, when that ideal was the most popular. The images specifically focus on the unwritten rules families lived by in their day to day life. These images work subtly to show the secrets people would hide, to continue to allude the fact that they are living The American Dream.
Using my grandmother’s dollhouse that she put together during that time, I am able to connect a viewer to a specific time period. A conversation arises between social norms then, in relation to now.
My intention with this work is to have the viewer walk away contemplating how the concept of The American Dream is affecting social normalities and the progression happening in contemporary society.
